Lockdown campaign: root plants for public gardens

Thursday Mar 26, 2020 | 15:00-17:00

Use the lockdown to start a home nursery for our public gardens on your windowsill. Work with your kids and show them how to grow plants from cuttings and give back to nature. You will root the cuttings over the next 2 to 3 months and we will then plant them out in our public gardens in the raining season together.

You will need: recycled plastic containers, a windowsill, time to prepare and care for the cuttings.

No experience needed. Email bukiwe@communitree.in with any queries.

Step 1: Count how many containers you have. They can be yoghurt, milk, toilet rolls, jars etc.

Step 2: Sign up on this page, the collection of plants event and note how many containers you have and what type (so we can prepare appropriate the plants for you)

Step 3: Come and collect a cutting pack between 3pm and 5pm tomorrow, Thursday the 26th March at 1 Smith Road, Rosebank. Contact 0762532423 if lost

Step 4: Watch the videos and prepare your plants for their new home on your windowsill (must be done Thursday evening so set aside and hour to do so)

Step 5: upload photos to your online profile and inspire others to do the same.

Step 6: Join us at a planting event and add your plants to the garden (June/July)
