Bring Your Own Bottle: Recovering Rondebosch Common Plants

Sunday Feb 04, 2018 | 09:00-10:30

In a well-intended but unfortunate incident, the indigenous vegetation growing inside a traffic circle along the Rondebosch Common was removed. Some of the plants that were cut can still be saved, but we need everybody's help. This Sunday we will focus exclusively on trying to save as many as the cut plants as possible.

How? By distributing the plants to as many volunteers as we can! Are you keen to care for some plants for a few months? Join us this Sunday. Because of the water crisis, we ask everybody to bring empty plastic bottles (1.5l or larger are preferred). These bottles serve as mini greenhouses, and are very effective at rooting offcuts without requiring constant watering. So bring as many bottles as you can, as well as a small spade if you have one. At the Common, we will review the different plant species that are there, and we will show you how to plant them. This is a great family event so feel free to bring your kids along!

We meet at 9.00 AM at the traffic circle, along the southern border of the Common.
