Kenilworth Racecourse Conservation Area (KRCA) is an area of 52 ha situated in the centre of Kenilworth Racecourse. KRCA is regarded as the best example of Cape Flats Sand Fynbos remaining in the Cape Peninsula. Being one of the largest stretches of natural vegetation remaining in Cape Town's Southern suburbs, KRCA's fynbos is of great historic and cultural significance. Its educational potential is of great value, being such natural habitat situated in an urban environment.

Kenilworth Racing (Pty) Ltd. owns the racecourse and the natural area in the centre. A management agreement was established in 2006 between Gold Circle (now Kenilworth Racing (Pty) Ltd.), City of Cape Town Nature Conservation and CapeNature Conservation, where the parties concerned agreed to collaborate in preserving this natural "gold mine".
